Trade Minister Budi Santoso convened an export dialogue in Jakarta on 8 November 2024 to connect small-business mentors and aggregators in Indonesia. ANTARA reported that participants agreed to monthly discussions and business matching. Banks and other mentoring organisations were among the proposed rotating participants.
Organisation of the export programme
The Trade Ministry’s same-day announcement identifies the initiative as UMKM BISA Ekspor: BISA abbreviates “Berani Inovasi, Siap Adaptasi”, or readiness to innovate and adapt. Its stated objective was to increase the number of small enterprises capable of exporting. The official announcement spells the minister’s surname Santoso; ANTARA’s English report uses Susanto.
ANTARA also recorded national targets of 7.1% export growth in 2025 and 9.6% in 2029, alongside an 8% economic-growth ambition for 2029.
Design consultations in Mataram
Earlier that week, the ministry and West Nusa Tenggara’s trade department held a 6–7 November product-adaptation event in Mataram. Approximately 40 home-decoration businesses attended. Export-development director Merry Maryati opened it; Ayu Anandani of Sheo Home Living discussed selling small furniture and decorations to more than 30 countries.
- The Indonesia Design Development Center provided design consultations.
- Participants discussed overseas market preferences and e-commerce promotion.
- A visit to local craft producer CV Hanuman Craft covered packaging and visual communication.
Retail platforms and export matching
In a separate 1 November meeting with GoTo, Santoso discussed online retail opportunities for small businesses. The minister called for consumer education about lawful online purchases and promotion of Indonesian-made products. Domestic-trade director-general Moga Simatupang and electronic-commerce director Rifan Ardianto accompanied him. The meeting notice contains no export contract or numerical sales commitment.
The three meetings addressed different commercial stages: the GoTo discussion concerned retail access, Mataram focused on adapting products and presentation, and Jakarta brought mentors together with export aggregators. None of these announcements reported a completed export order attributable to the new monthly forum.
