Ozon opened sales for customers in Georgia on 10 September 2024, according to Interfax’s report citing the company. Customers could receive orders through partner collection points or courier delivery. The initial delivery estimate was approximately 14 days. The announcement extends the marketplace’s cross-border sales channel to another neighbouring market.
Testing before the sales announcement
A 3 September report by Shopper’s documented a preceding trial. Its journalists found that only legal entities could order at that stage, with advance payment required and a maximum parcel weight of 29.5 kilograms. GBS Export was identified as the operator. Collection points appeared in Tbilisi, Batumi, Rustavi and other cities.
Ozon’s representative described those earlier arrangements as testing, saying that it was premature to announce a full launch. The 10 September sales announcement is therefore a later development in the same project.
Another regional launch the previous month
On 8 August, Trend reported Ozon’s Azerbaijan launch, citing the company. That initial offering comprised more than 30 million products, with delivery estimated at approximately ten days. Ozon also planned warehouse infrastructure, its own delivery service and franchised collection points. Director of CIS operations and development Aleksei Sapon described plans to involve local entrepreneurs in selling through the marketplace.
- 8 August: sales announcement for Azerbaijan.
- 3 September: partner-delivery testing in Georgia.
- 10 September: Georgia sales launch, with an initial fourteen-day estimate.
The chronology shows two separate market launches and a documented Georgian trial.
