Polimer completed its Polimer-2 manufacturing complex in the Smolensk region, expanding daily production capacity and adding a line for wide-format polyethylene films used in agriculture. This company file summarises the project information reported by the regional government and covered by Interfax on 22 February 2024.
A second production complex
The reported expansion increased the enterprise’s manufacturing capacity from 180 to 230 tonnes per day. The new line produces films between six and 18 metres wide, with thicknesses ranging from 180 to 250 microns. Those dimensional ranges describe the line’s product scope; they do not mean that every film has the same width or thickness.
The regional announcement said the line manufactures greenhouse, silage, covering and mulching films, among other agricultural products. Polimer’s existing factory is in Desnogorsk and produces polyethylene packaging films of different types. The new complex adds manufacturing capability alongside that established operation.
Project figures reported at completion
- Daily enterprise capacity: increased from 180 to 230 tonnes.
- Wide-format film width: six to 18 metres.
- Film thickness range: 180 to 250 microns.
- New jobs in Desnogorsk: 310, according to Governor Vasily Anokhin.
Anokhin said the company had invested almost RUB3.1 billion in its development and the regional economy over recent years. This is a broader period-based investment figure, not a statement that the new film line alone cost that amount. Earlier reporting referred to an approximately RUB2 billion plan for the new packaging-materials complex.
Products and the scope of the disclosure
The agricultural applications define the practical focus of the new line. The announcement establishes a reported completion milestone and the available production range, but does not publish individual product prices, customer contracts or a shipment timetable.
The capacity increase is also different from an actual daily output measurement. The February report does not disclose utilisation or sales volumes for the new complex. Buyers seeking a particular film should therefore confirm the required dimensions, material specification and commercial availability with the company rather than infer them from the capacity figure.
