Oatey announced on 5 March 2024 that an affiliate had acquired Stockholm-based valve manufacturer Aktiebolaget Durgo. The company release distributed by Business Wire and Interfax identifies air-admittance and pressure-regulation valves as Durgo’s specialities. The transaction price was not disclosed.

Swedish manufacturing and established distribution

The acquisition adds a Swedish manufacturer to a Cleveland-based plumbing group. Oatey’s release lists locations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, China and the Netherlands.

The preceding acquisition in the Netherlands

Oatey had already expanded its European manufacturing presence through the acquisition of Lansas announced in July 2023. That company, based in Eijsden, manufactures and distributes underground pipe and disc plugs. Its more than 70 years in European waterworks complemented Oatey’s existing US pipe-plug business under the Cherne brand.

Restivo linked that earlier transaction to Lansas’s automated manufacturing and the combined experience of Cherne and Lansas. The two purchases therefore address different product categories: the Dutch transaction concerned plugs for waterworks pipes, while Durgo brings valves used to manage air admission and pressure.

Products already present in Oatey’s catalogue

  • Air-admittance valves address ventilation of drainage systems.
  • Pipe plugs and disc plugs belong to the separate waterworks product category identified in the Lansas release.
  • The Durgo announcement also includes pressure-regulation valves, extending beyond air-admittance products alone.
