Akston opened a manufacturing facility in Shreveport, Louisiana, as part of a $7 million expansion, Manufacturing Dive reported on 6 March 2026. The animal-health biotechnology company began occupying the premises in July 2025.
Production facilities and employment programme
The 26 February Louisiana Economic Development announcement describes 31,000 square feet at BRF’s InterTech Park, on approximately 2.5 acres. The installation includes biologics cleanrooms, quality-control laboratories, fill-finish equipment, cold storage and warehousing. Its commissioning and build-out activities were still continuing.

The project’s employment programme envisages 69 direct positions over five years. Separately, the development agency estimates 93 indirect positions, bringing potential employment opportunities to 162. Those are projected jobs, with the direct and indirect components stated separately.
Clinical and regulatory organisation
Akston’s 19 August 2025 leadership announcement named Antonella Borgatti director of clinical development for biologics and Kristina Kalevas Camp director of regulatory affairs for biologics. Borgatti’s responsibilities include study design and execution for USDA-regulated biologics. Camp oversees regulatory strategy and submissions to the USDA Center for Veterinary Biologics, coordinating compliance across internal teams and external partners.
Those appointments predate the Louisiana opening announcement and describe the organisation supporting product development alongside manufacturing. The Shreveport expansion adds to Akston’s existing Beverly, Massachusetts footprint.
