Manufacturing scope and expansion programme

Faith Technologies plans to convert a former JoAnn distribution centre in Opelika into an electrical-assemblies factory. The municipal announcement of 24 February specifies investment exceeding $79 million and approximately 200 new full-time jobs. Its Excellerate brand manufactures standardised and custom modular components in controlled environments for installation at customers’ sites.

  • Project location: Northeast Opelika Industrial Park.
  • Premises: former JoAnn Stores distribution centre.
  • Announced programme: purchase, improvements and electrical-products manufacturing.

The municipal announcement identifies existing facilities in Appleton and Little Chute, Wisconsin, and Olathe, Kansas, alongside additional capacity under development in El Paso, Texas.

Earlier public hearing notice

A 9 February public notice reproduced by The Observer scheduled a council hearing for 24 February at 6 p.m., concerning a proposed agreement involving the city, Opelika Industrial Development Authority and Faith Technologies. It described an estimated $75 million capital investment and at least 204 full-time employees over the agreement’s term, with proposed cash incentives, job-performance incentives and tax abatements.

The notice and subsequent city announcement use different investment estimates and employment descriptions. The later account gives more than $79 million and approximately 200 jobs; the earlier legal notice supplies the proposed agreement’s figures.
