FESCO launched container shipments from Cambodia to Russia through Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, Interfax reported on 19 February 2026. The estimated Phnom Penh–Vladivostok transit averages 12 days; the first through shipment reached its final recipient in Moscow in 32 days.

The intermodal route

  • Containers leave Phnom Penh’s river port through inland waterways.
  • Ho Chi Minh City provides consolidation and transshipment to FESCO Vietnam Direct Line.

The hub’s earlier development

FESCO’s 5 December 2023 announcement recorded an agreement of intent with the SP-ITC container terminal in Ho Chi Minh City and plans for a local office. At that time, three group container ships served Vietnam Direct Line, and departures had increased from monthly to weekly.

The terminal already provided a regional transshipment hub for feeder cargo from Southeast Asia. The Cambodian service therefore adds an origin connected to an existing consolidation route, rather than creating the entire Vietnam–Russia line for the first time.

A separate regional feeder connection

On 13 February 2025, FESCO added Pasir Gudang in Malaysia to FESCO Intra Asia Service. The announced circuit was Ho Chi Minh City–Port Klang–Pasir Gudang–Ho Chi Minh City, operated with a 400-TEU container ship.

That regional circuit does not itself call at Vladivostok. Its connection to Russia comes through onward transshipment in Ho Chi Minh City onto Vietnam Direct Line. The Cambodian river leg and the Malaysian feeder are distinct origin services using the same regional hub concept.
