
Real GDP in the United Kingdom grew 0.5% in February 2026 from January and 0.5% in the three months to February from the preceding three-month period. Anadolu Agency reported on 16 April that monthly growth exceeded the 0.1% market forecast. The Office for National Statistics estimated GDP was 1.0% higher than in February 2025.
Services provided the largest three-month contribution
The ONS February GDP bulletin records three-month services growth of 0.5%, production growth of 1.2% and a 2.0% construction decline. Services grew in ten of fourteen subsectors. The largest positive contributions came from wholesale and retail trade including vehicle repair, information and communication, and transportation and storage.
- Wholesale and retail trade including vehicle repair: up 1.4% over three months.
- Information and communication: up 1.6%.
- Transportation and storage: up 1.9%.
Within those sectors, wholesale trade excluding vehicles grew 3.1%, publishing activities 9.1%, and warehousing and transport support 2.4%. This sector detail shows which activities contributed to the combined services result.
