The new domestic terminal at Baikal Airport in Ulan-Ude, Russia, opened on 20 November 2024. Its first arriving flight brought 72 passengers from Irkutsk, who entered the building through an airbridge, Interfax reported. The two-storey terminal has approximately 6,600 square metres of floor space and two airbridges.

Domestic and international operations

The Federal Air Transport Agency’s same-day account identifies the arriving service as an S7 flight from Irkutsk. It explains that the existing terminal will serve international destinations, with an overhaul planned after completion of the new domestic building. Those later works were described as forthcoming, not as already finished at the opening.

The agency reports that peak terminal capacity increased 60% to 400 passengers an hour. On that stated basis, the comparison implies a former capacity of 250 an hour. This is a calculation from the reported increase, rather than a separate measurement of airport traffic. Parking capacity doubled from 120 to 240 spaces, adding 120 spaces.
